Privacy policy
Short version: Ribbon moves windows on your Mac and keeps everything it knows on your Mac. It talks to the network for two things only, checking your licence and checking for updates.
The app
Ribbon needs the macOS Accessibility permission. It uses it to read the position, size and title of windows and to move and resize them. That information stays in memory on your Mac and in Ribbon's own files in ~/Library/Application Support/Ribbon/ (your settings and, if session restore is on, your column layout).
Ribbon does not:
- read what is inside your windows, record your screen or log your keystrokes (it listens only for its own shortcuts),
- include analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising SDKs,
- need an account.
What leaves your Mac
Only two things:
- Licence validation. When you activate, and from time to time after that, Ribbon sends your licence key and a device label to the licence service of our payment provider, Dodo Payments, so it can confirm the key is valid and count your activations. Deactivating sends the same key to free the seat.
- Update checks. To see whether a newer version exists, Ribbon downloads a small update feed from this website. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address and the app version to the web host.
Nothing else is sent: no window titles, no app lists, no usage statistics.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. It collects your name, email, billing country and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, what you bought and your licence key so we can send you the download and help with support. We never see your full card number.
This website
The site is a static website hosted on Vercel. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Vercel keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to operate and protect the service. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser fetches them.
If you email support, we keep the conversation so we can help you, and use your address only to reply.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling Ribbon and deleting ~/Library/Application Support/Ribbon/ removes everything the app stored. To have your purchase or support records deleted, email vikas.ideacheck@gmail.com. Records the payment provider must keep for tax law stay with them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
